Kudos to Mugar 3 staff for compassionate care
Dear Michael Lauf,
I was recently admitted from the Emergency Department to Mugar 3 Extension and was an inpatient for a four-day stay. This email is written to acknowledge the excellent, skillful and compassionate care I received from the Mugar 3 nursing staff. It’s important to me, to be able to thank each of the nurses who provided careful assessment and monitoring of my condition, assured that my pain was managed as well as possible and administered care in the kindest way. Their names are Barbara, Marie, Allison, Renae, Laura, Haley and Alexis.
When shifts changed, the nurses provided clear, handover communication and my plan of care was seamless. There are two nurses in particular who helped me in immeasurable ways during two especially difficult times. On the night of my admission, Marie assessed my condition and took extra steps to provide comfort, support and reassurance. On the second night of my stay, I woke to increased swelling and pain. Renae responded quickly and expertly to manage my symptoms and assure my safety and comfort.
As a recently retired MGH nurse with many decades of experience in a variety of roles, I know what excellent nursing care is. I was very blessed to receive the caliber of care I received at Cape Cod Healthcare. Each of the nurses has my deepest gratitude and remains in my heart.
With sincerest thanks,
Carole
Grateful for rapid response, outstanding care following 911 call
Mr. Lauf and Hunt,
This is to express my gratitude for care I received in both Hyannis and Falmouth during and following a heart attack I experienced July 2022.
Of initial significance was the rapid response I received from our 911 call, followed by equally rapid testing in Hyannis. I wish I could remember the name of the ER doctor who explained to me in a thoughtful way, what I had just experienced. The cardiac doctor did the same the next morning while inserting a stent. So, the initial attention gave me the confidence that I was in the right place.
This was followed by outstanding care and attention in Falmouth by Dr. Guerin, the cardiac staff and the whole rehabilitation group here. The nurses and aides under the direction of Melissa in the rehab unit are literally a group of gems.
I have finished my rehab and already signed up for maintenance protocol.
Please pass along my gratitude to the whole unit.
Yours truly,
H R (Russ) Lemcke
Teri helped put me at ease during blood draw at CCH
Dear administrator,
Few people today receive the accolades they deserve for their dedication to serving people and I just want to take the time to highlight the service of one of your employees. Having been diagnosed with a blood condition which demands frequent phlebotomies, with trepidation I went to the hospital lab. I am 80 years old and all my life have dreaded having blood drawn, particularly because I have had many bad experiences with novices in training, and I am a difficult draw.
With this in mind, I entered the lab and was immediately put at ease. Teri was so kind, considerate, sympathetic and concerned about this not being a traumatic experience for me. I have been in the lab 10 times so far and have no fear when she sticks the needles in my veins. Please understand that this is quite an accomplishment for me!
Thank you,
Marilyn Kacergis
To staff at JML: Thank you for taking great care of our dad
Our father, Arthur Hampton, was a resident in the Naushon unit at JML for almost one year before he passed away March 22. Although it has been a couple of months, we wanted to send this letter to let you all know how much we truly appreciate and thank you for taking such great care of our dad. We are also thanking you because he would also want to personally thank you as he would say to us repeatedly, “if you have to be someplace, this is the place to be.”
The entire staff at JML, from the administrative staff, activities staff, housekeeping staff, chefs/cooks, and of course, the PT/OT and nurses/CNAs and all other aides, treated our dad and us as part of the JML family. We cannot possibly mention every person that helped our dad and treated him with such compassionate care as we would not want to leave anyone out, but know that we recognize everyone who cared for him and those that we interacted with, you all know who you are and we truly thank everyone of you!
Our dad had, prior to residing at JML, also spent time at three other rehab facilities. He was extremely happy and felt very fortunate when he was accepted at JML. Your facility is top-notch, not just in physical environment, but also because of the great care you provide (care to patients/residents, and care in handling family, etc.). Of course, he did not expect to convert to and reside there “long term,” but the manner in which the JML team worked with, communicated and cared for our dad made his extended stay more enjoyable. He enjoyed talking and joking with OT/PT, the activities crew and all his caregivers, and he developed real relationships with many of you. For this, we also thank you.
We miss him, of course, and we also miss visiting him at your JML facility, enjoying music and activities and seeing other residents smile, and talking and interacting with all of you.
Although words and items cannot express our gratitude, we will also be sending along a “thank you” in the form of something sweet as a token of our appreciation.
Sincerely,
The Family of Arthur Hampton

Falmouth Hospital: Good things start at the top
Dear Starr,
Thank you for being such a dynamic, positive force while I was a patient in the hospital. You pulled no punches and were honest. I so appreciate your focus on the patient with an eye on the nurses, too. Good things start at the top and you certainly have done a stellar job. The second-floor nurses were an incredible group. My heart is so full even writing that! You are the queen! Thank you so much!
Sincerely,
Kathleen
To the VNA: Thank you for kindness, professional work ethic
I’ve been under the care of the VNA on and off since August. I just want to thank all of you for your kindness and professional work ethic. I want to especially thank nurse Bahjat Tayara for all his care and kindness. He made a difficult time better and easier. The VNA should consider him a valuable asset.
Sincerely,
Barbara Alexander
Thank you to VNA Nurse Nancy Hartigan
Dear Ann-Marie Peckham,
I am writing to comment on your services I have received. I can’t say enough about the great care given to me and my wife by all the nurses, but especially Nancy Hartigan. She couldn’t have been more helpful to us. Please say hello and give her our sincerest thanks for a job well done.
Regards,
John and Mary
Retired nurse expresses appreciation for the VNA
To Whom it May Concern,
I am a retired nurse, and was on the Norwell, Massachusetts, VNA Board for many years. I fully understand all that goes into a VNA nurse’s day, and have great respect for all you do for your patients. Each care plan looks manageable at 8 a.m., but hundreds of little and big interruptions can change all that in a blink!
Thank you again,
Carol Thornell
