From seal walks and Italian serenades to food truck feasts and adventures on the Brewster flats, August is packed with family-friendly events and unforgettable experiences across Cape Cod. Mark your calendars and make the most of the season with these local favorites.

Seal Walk in Truro

Friday, August 1, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Explore the shores of Truro with educators from the Center for Coastal Studies as you search for gray and harbor seals in their natural habitat. Along the way, educators will share fascinating facts about seal behavior and their role in the coastal ecosystem. This family-friendly walk is a great way to explore the shoreline and learn about Cape Cod’s marine life. Held at High Head in Truro. Meet in the parking lot off High Head Road at the head of the bike trail. Requested donation: $10 per person. All ages welcome. Event is weather dependent.

La Tavola: Italian Feast Under the Stars

Friday, August 1, 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Outside of Christ the King Parish, 5 Job’s Fishing Road, Mashpee

Mashpee is transformed into Little Italy for this one magical night at La Tavola. Four-hundred dinner guests will be treated to a five-course Italian feast catered by Pink Door Catering. While guests dine, they will be serenaded by Italian tenor Aaron Caruso. Steeple Street Music Academy will also present several young performers to wow the crowds. Presented by Mashpee Chamber of Commerce. $80 per person.

Mudflat Mania!

August 4 (1:45-3:15 p.m.); August 18 (1-2:30 p.m.); August 20 (3 to 4:30 p.m.); and August 29 (10-11:30 a.m.)
Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, Brewster

Join naturalists for a family-friendly guided hike across the Brewster flats and discover the fascinating life that thrives on and beneath the surface of Cape Cod Bay. This 90-minute adventure includes a 20-minute walk to the flats, hands-on exploration, and a return hike to the museum. Cost: $8 Members | $10 Non-Members (Museum admission not included).

Learn to Play the Ukulele

Saturday, August 9, 11 a.m. to noon
East Falmouth Public Library, 310 East Falmouth Highway

Discover the joy of making music in this hands-on ukulele workshop with musician Julie Stepanek at the East Falmouth Public Library. Learn basic strumming, chords, and simple songs in a welcoming and beginner-friendly setting. No musical experience is needed. Ukuleles will be provided, or you can bring your own. Cape Cod Food Truck & Craft Beer Festival

Saturday, August 16, Noon to 5 p.m.
Cape Cod Fairgrounds, Route 151, East Falmouth

Get ready for a day of delicious food and cold drinks at the Cape Cod Food Truck & Craft Beer Festival! Thirty of New England’s top food trucks will be serving up everything from BBQ and wood-fired pizza to Korean spice and creamy mac and cheese. Over 50 craft beers, local, regional and national, will be on tap to complement the feast. Enjoy lawn games, live music and fun for the whole family.

The 54th Festival of the Arts

August 15-17, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Chase Park, Chatham

The 54th Festival of the Arts, sponsored by the Creative Arts Center, boasts 120 juried local and national artisans and craftsmen exhibitors. The premier summer arts event includes pottery, jewelry, photography, fabric, metal, stone, wood and fine art. The festival is family friendly with a children’s tent offering face painting and art activities. Shuttle bus service is available at the Chatham Community Center, 702 Main St., and at the Creative Arts Center, 154 Crowell Road, and runs continuously.
