April is full of energy as the Cape and Islands begin to bloom. From chili tastings and scenic bike rides to festive daffodil parades and family-friendly races, it’s the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the season.

10th Annual Cape Cod Awesome Chili Challenge

Saturday, April 18
Noon to 5 p.m.
New Seabury Country Club, 95 Shore Drive West, Mashpee

The Cape Cod Awesome Chili Challenge returns for its 10th year to support the Boys & Girls Club of Cape Cod! Live music by the Grab Brothers. Enjoy a lively good time of all you can eat and special drinks. 

Nantucket Daffodil Festival

April 24-26

The Daffodil Festival on Nantucket includes art shows, a pet show, contests, lectures and, of course, the Garden Club’s 50th annual Nantucket Daffodil Flower Show. There are activities for all ages, and festival-goers dress up for the occasion and participate enthusiastically. In addition to the antique car parade, window decorating contest, and the famous ‘Sconset Tailgate Picnic, the Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce organizes a Daffy Hat Contest, a children’s parade featuring decorated bikes, strollers, wagons, and other self-propelled vehicles and a family picnic at Children’s Beach.

Ruck4HIT

Friday & Saturday, April 24-25
Begins and ends in Falmouth

Hosted by Heroes in Transition, the annual Ruck4HIT returns for its 11th year, bringing teams together for a powerful endurance challenge across Cape Cod. Beginning and ending in Falmouth, participants complete a 200+ mile relay over roughly 36 hours, traveling through all 15 towns while carrying weighted rucksacks in honor of the burdens borne by veterans and active service members.

Shining Sea Bikeway 50th Anniversary Celebration

Saturday, April 25, 2-4 p.m.
Falmouth Bus Terminal, Depot Avenue

Celebrate 50 years of one of Cape Cod’s most scenic treasures, the Shining Sea Bikeway, at this special community gathering hosted by the Friends of Falmouth Bikeways, Inc. From 2–4 p.m., head to the Falmouth Bus Terminal on Depot Avenue to enjoy an afternoon of connection, storytelling, and sweet treats. Guests are encouraged to arrive by bike, on foot, or by car and take part in celebrating this beloved, nationally recognized path. Rain date: Sunday, April 26, 2-4 p.m.

Lovin’ LIFE 5k

Sunday, April 26, 10 a.m.
Mashpee

Living Independently Forever, Inc. (LIFE) will host its 13th annual Lovin’ LIFE 5K on April 26. All proceeds benefit LIFE’s Special Olympics programs and Special Olympics Massachusetts. This family-friendly fundraiser welcomes runners and walkers of all ages and abilities. After the race, enjoy an after-party with refreshments, music and awards for the top female and male finishers in each age group. $40 for online pre-registration (recommended) and $45 for day-of-registration. The first 150 registered participants will receive a limited-edition 2026 Lovin’ LIFE race shirt!
