Tower Transformation: Events Mark Major Milestone Tower Transformation: Events Mark Major Milestone

Joyful gatherings celebrate the construction progress and symbolize an exciting new chapter for Cape Cod Healthcare.

Tower Ceremony: A Momentous Occasion

Our team, donors Peter and Pamela Barbey, and Suffolk Construction crews gathered on Tuesday, October 10, for a momentous occasion – to celebrate the placement of the last steel beam atop the Barbey Patient Care Tower at Cape Cod Hospital.

The new oncology and cardiology services tower, expected to be completed by early 2025, is a transformative step toward the future for Cape Cod Healthcare.

As part of the major milestone, CCHC team members, the Barbeys and construction crews signed the beam, which was painted white and adorned with a small evergreen tree and an American flag. This custom celebrates the construction progress, honors the building crew and is the first introduction of the building to the public.

CCHC Team Members invited to sign the beam

On October 18 and 19, Cape Cod Healthcare team members were invited to sign the symbolic tower beam at Cape Cod Hospital before it became a permanent part of the Barbey Patient Care Tower.

Dee M., was the first one to pick up a Sharpie and sign the beam early Wednesday morning. “I’ve worked at the hospital for 48 years,” said Dee, “so it was an honor to sign to the beam, and be part of history of Cape Cod Hospital.”
