Talk and Walk with a Doc‘Talk and Walk with a Doc’ Continues Sept. 30

The outdoor wellness series steps into its final event of the season starting at 9 a.m. at Beech Forest Trail in Provincetown.

The third installment of “Talk and Walk with Doc” in 2023 will feature a short trail walk and presentations about mindfulness, the importance of a good night’s sleep and how poor sleep impacts cardiac health. Speakers will include Cape Cod Healthcare cardiologist Elissa Thompson, MD, mindfulness coach Ellen Sullivan and a park ranger. A Q&A session will follow.

“Talk and Walk with a Doc” is an outdoor wellness series at the National Seashore offered as part of the Healthy Parks, Healthy People program, which is in its ninth season as a partnership between Cape Cod Healthcare and the Cape Cod National Seashore. The program encourages outdoor exercise and exposure to nature through parks and public lands as a way to maintain good health, featuring the local resources of the trails, facilities, programs and staff of the National Park Service.

The series, which kicked off this year on May 20 at Maroni Station Site in Wellfleet, featured Dr. Thompson’s talk about the cardiac benefits of walking. The second event on August 5 at Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham focused on how to eat smart for a healthy heart.

The event is free and open to the public. Please bring your own chair or blanket for the talk portion in Provincetown on September 30. Registration is not required, but it is encouraged. Registrants will receive news and updates in the event of a rain delay or postponement. A rain date is scheduled for Sunday, October 1.

We hope to see some of you there!
