A Surprise Celebration for JML’s Jocelyn Garanito

What started as an ordinary Wednesday afternoon at JML Care Center quickly turned into a heartwarming surprise for Registered Dietitian Jocelyn Garanito, who walked into the break room filled with balloons, sparkling decorations and cheers from colleagues—all in her honor. Jocelyn soon learned she had been chosen as the Cottrell Regional Clinical Excellence Award recipient for 2025 from Morrison Healthcare.

The prestigious award recognizes one dietitian from each region for exceptional dedication, compassion and clinical excellence. As JML’s sole dietitian, Garanito has managed added responsibilities while continuing to provide top-notch care. She consistently maintained high standards and ensured all documentation and clinical duties were up to date.

“She stepped up without hesitation, helping to ensure continuity and stability for the department,” wrote colleague Jen Larrivee on the nomination form. “Her positive attitude, flexibility and collaborative nature made her an absolute pleasure to work with, even through periods of uncertainty.”

Adding to the joy of the moment, Jocelyn is also a newlywed, making this achievement a double celebration. During the presentation, Robert Finelli, Vice President of Operations at Morrison Healthcare, praised her exceptional work and the significance of the award. “What makes this so special is that it doesn’t matter the size of the facility—it’s about the impact,” says Finelli. And Jocelyn’s impact is truly remarkable. She has done a fantastic job here, and I couldn’t be happier to see her recognized.”

Congratulations, Jocelyn, on this well-deserved honor!

CCH Team Shines in “Evita” at Cotuit Center for the Arts

Three Cape Cod Healthcare employees recently stepped into the spotlight in Cotuit Center for the Arts’ sold-out production of “Evita”—a standout run that filled 12 shows, added three more, and still drew a waitlist of more than 800 theatergoers.

Shelley West, RN, OCN, MSN, MBA, Director of Nursing for Oncology and Infusion, performed as a featured dancer and aristocrat, playfully adopting the stage name “Callista Vallente.” A graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City, West has appeared in numerous productions throughout her adult life. She’s already back in rehearsal for Cotuit’s first show of 2026, “Metamorphoses,” as well as a dance showcase coming up in March.

She shared the stage in “Evita” with two fellow CCHC colleagues who also have extensive theater experience. Steve Koglin, surgery coordinator for Neurosurgery, appeared as the Admiral, and Bridget Martin of the Pain Center—whose “amazingly gorgeous voice” has earned her standout roles including Mother Superior in “The Sound of Music”—portrayed a nurse in the production.

“It was an incredible experience and such a talented cast,” said West. “We miss it already!”

IT Dream Team to the Rescue

IT Dream Team to the Rescue

When a multi-PC issue brought work to a standstill at the Davenport-Mugar Cancer Center, Cape Cod Hospital’s IT team jumped into action—dropping everything to get things running again. “They’re a top-notch group who always go above and beyond,” said Katherine Michaud, Executive Director of Oncology. “They were incredible when we moved in, and once again proved they’re the best of the best!”
