Winning Partnership: EVS and Nursing

Winning Partnership: EVS and Nursing

The nursing staff on Mugar 4 and employees from Environmental Services gathered in December for a Nursing Celebration, a tradition started last May held every other month to recognize the inpatient unit with the highest HCAHPS cleanliness score. HCAHPS stands for Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems. As the current winner with an 80 percent score, Mugar 4 was awarded the traveling trophy.

Jeff Sullivan, Manager of Housekeeping at Cape Cod Hospital, says if a unit continues to achieve high patient experience scores month over month, the trophy will remain on that unit. If another unit performs better, the trophy will move to another floor.

“It is important to recognize the hard work and partnership between EVS and Nursing,” says Sullivan. “Housekeeping could not be successful without our nursing partners, and we want to focus this partnership on improving our patients’ experience by staff working together as a team.”
