Cape Cod Health News Celebrates 10 Years

Cape Cod Health News (CCHN) is celebrating a decade of stories written by Cape-based writers with years of journalism experience that educate and connect our community. Since launching in 2015, the online publication has grown into a trusted source for timely health news, expert advice and uplifting human-interest stories from across Cape Cod Healthcare.
As part of CCHC Marketing Communications, CCHN has published more than 2,000 compelling articles over the past 10 years—spotlighting breakthroughs in care, explaining complex medical topics in clear terms and introducing readers to the dedicated people who make up our healthcare system. In collaboration with the MarCom team, a weekly newsfeed is delivered to over 26,000 subscribers, and the full CCHN news hub is featured on our CCHC website.
“Cape Cod Health News allows us to bring our Cape Cod Healthcare mission to life through timely, accurate and entertaining stories featuring our experts across all of our medical disciplines,” says editor Robin Lord, who has been at the helm since the beginning. “It’s about keeping our community informed and engaged.”
Here’s to the next decade of compelling and inspiring stories that help keep our community well!

CCHC Pharmacy Team Honored with National Award

Cape Cod Healthcare was recognized on the national stage in August when HealthTrust Performance Group presented CCHC with the 2025 Pharmacy Excellence Award at HealthTrust University in San Antonio, Texas. The award celebrates “best practices in pharmacy—leading to improved care outcomes, operational efficiencies and cost savings.”
For CCHC’s pharmacy leaders, the moment was both exciting and deeply meaningful. “This award demonstrates the value the entire pharmacy team brings to the patients who come through our doors,” says James Mangan, director of hospital and ambulatory pharmacy. “It’s also a validation of the support provided by CCHC Administration—without their continuous support of new and innovative ideas (that go far beyond this project) to provide new ways to help our patients, none of this would be possible.”
“This truly was a multidisciplinary team effort by many wonderful people—all committed to providing exceptional care to the residents and visitors of Cape Cod,” Mangan added.
Sharing “Paw-some” News

Dogs on Call recently had a heartwarming moment in the Behavioral Health unit at Cape Cod Hospital. Handler Bob and his Labrador Retriever, Ruby, are regular visitors, and Bob always shares Ruby’s Dogs on Call card. During a recent visit, a young patient was so inspired by Ruby that she created a drawing of her—modeled after the dog card photo—and presented it to Bob. He was deeply touched by the gesture.

Adding to the excitement, the Dogs on Call team also debuted their new blue bandanas!
Surgical tech apprentices begin training

Cape Cod Hospital and Falmouth Hospital team members started their journey to become Certified Surgical Technologists through Cape Cod Healthcare’s new CST Apprenticeship Program, launched in partnership with 1199SEIU and Lasell University this spring. The program provides paid, on-the-job training and fully covered tuition as participants prepare for a rewarding career in the operating room.
