New Patient Menu Debuts
Garden avocado toast, French toast bread pudding and Mediterranean veggie wraps are among the expanded culinary offerings for patients.
Patients at Cape Cod Hospital and Falmouth Hospital are enjoying a new and improved dining experience, thanks to the recent launch of an expanded patient menu that offers a wide variety of fresh, healthy options.
Before the rollout on Sept. 29, Morrison Healthcare, the hospital’s food service partner, hosted a special tasting for staff at both hospitals. Nurses, physicians and team members gathered to sample new dishes ranging from Mediterranean veggie wraps and tomato, spinach and feta orzo salad to fall harvest shrimp and grits, pasta pomodoro, fruit and honey yogurt crunch and chocolate mug cake.
The expanded menu offerings also include garden avocado toast, French toast bread pudding and a wider variety of breakfast features—like the nitty gritty bowl (cheese grits, scrambled eggs, bacon, cheddar and scallions)—alongside chef specials such as beef burgundy and rotisserie chicken. Seasonal salads, hearty soups, handheld sandwiches and a bakery lineup round out the menu, giving patients more options.
“This is a total revamp of the menu,” said Robyn Cutler, assistant director of food services. “The quality is better, the food is simpler and healthier—and it’s a refreshing change from the same old, same old. I’m really excited about it.”
While the goal was to bring in more fresh, modern flavors, the team was careful to preserve longtime favorites. “Some patients come here often and want to have what they’re used to—like our turkey, meatloaf or grilled cheese,” Cutler added. “We made sure to keep those classics.”
New Executive Chef Tim Kramer said he expects several new dishes to be immediate hits. “The Mediterranean wrap will be really popular,” says Kramer, “and so will the avocado toast and the salads. The menu is really focused on fresh, healthy, fruits, salads, produce and healthy proteins for all of our patients and guests of the hospitals.”
With the new menu officially launched, Cape Cod Healthcare hopes mealtimes will bring not only nourishment, but also comfort, healing and joy to patients.
