MACC Clinical Summit: Caring for Patients and Caregivers
The annual summit focused on patient needs, clinical innovation, staff development and caregiver well-being across MACC practices.
Earlier this spring, clinical staff from across Medical Affiliates of Cape Cod (MACC) came together for their annual clinical summit, a day emphasizing collaboration, professional growth and supporting the people who care for patients every day.
“It’s such a positive event that focuses on our CCHC network of skilled physicians and advanced care programs, employee well-being and professional growth and development,” said Elizabeth Dunton, vice president of physician enterprise.
Now in its fourth year, the summit brought together approximately 70 to 80 nurses and certified medical assistants from MACC practices on April 18, 2026, at the Margaritaville Resort in Hyannis for presentations led by physicians and clinical teams, wellness activities and opportunities to celebrate innovation and career growth. This year’s theme, “Meeting the Needs of Our Patients,” reflected the MACC C.A.N. Initiative: Communication, Advocacy, Access and Needs Met, which highlighted the importance of meeting both patient needs and the needs of healthcare providers.
Throughout the day, attendees heard from physician speakers across multiple specialties, sharing clinical expertise and specialty updates, including:
• Courtney B. Miller, MD — General Otolaryngology (ENT)
• Thomas Wilson, MD — Neurosurgery
• Naomi Kalliath, DO — Breast Surgery
• Stephen Brooks, MD, FACS, RPVI — Vascular Surgery
One especially meaningful presentation came from the neurology team, which highlighted a performance improvement initiative bringing hospital therapy dogs to caregiver support groups.
Members of the neurology team also highlighted career pathways supported by Cape Cod Healthcare, sharing examples of professional growth across the organization.

Andrea Fogarty, now manager of neurology, began her career as a pharmacy technician at Falmouth Hospital, attended nursing school while working at Cape Cod Healthcare, later joined MACC as a nurse and now leads the practice where she built her career.
“Cape Cod Healthcare has supported me at every stage of my career growth, and events like the clinical summit are a reminder of how much we learn from and support one another,” said Carey.
