Words of Appreciation: ‘This is the Place to Be’ Patient Praise: Stellar Staff, Compassionate Care

Grateful patients and family members take time to write hand-written letters and thoughtful emails to express appreciation for outstanding care throughout Cape Cod Healthcare.

CCH patient highlights outstanding, loving and competent care

Dear Michael Lauf,

I was admitted to Cape Cod Hospital on Saturday, September 2, around noon via ambulance. I was discharged from CCH on Wednesday, September 6. Apparently, I had a mild heart attack, possibly while I was being admitted. After many tests, I had the heart catheterization on Tuesday, September 5. Of course, with it being Labor Day weekend, it was a very busy time with your limited staff.

I have often said that “everything flows from the top.” I can only speak about the Cardiac Surgery Department. My only purpose in writing is to say thank you for your outstanding leadership, as competence and care flow down through all your people. From the food service to the cardiologists and everyone on the team, I received nothing but outstanding, loving and competent care. If it’s true that “everything flows from the top,” then that speaks most highly of your hand at the helm. Please know that I am a most grateful recipient.

Sincerely,
Harry E. Fletcher

Wound Care Center: A stellar group of professionals

Dear Madam/Sir,

I am not new to your services at Cape Cod Healthcare Wound Care Center. I had an accident several years ago that your staff took care of extremely well. I had hoped the experience would be unique, but that was wishful thinking. At 84, the skin is thin. So, I was forced to revisit your facility again last week.

My daughter is a surgeon, so I know a little about how healthcare works. This letter is to inform you that you have a stellar group of professionals on your staff. They are facile with the latest standards of care, incredibly efficient and have unusually high interpersonal skills. The latter, though, somewhat recent to the profession, cannot be dismissed as unimportant. Dr. Flynn, Missy and a host of people whose names I cannot remember, displayed all of the above. By the way, your receptionist also started things off on the right foot.

I have had some success racing a sailboat. That success was dependent on teamwork and communication, some of it spoken; but much relying on an innate understanding of the task at hand and conveyed with a nod or a glance. Medical procedures are quite similar. Your people operate like such a team. As a patient, it is almost entertaining to observe.

Please let all of these folks know how much I appreciated their performance. Once again, I hope to avoid contact with them, but one never knows.

Sincerely,

Thomas E. Foley

Family expresses appreciation for VNA staff during husband’s hospice care

Dear Emily, Joe, Elisa and VNA staff,

On behalf of my husband, myself and my children, I want to express my very deepest appreciation for the help and support you provided us during the 14 months Mac was under hospice care. He expressed many times his appreciation to myself and my children. We could not have cared for my husband as needed without everything you had provided: Joe and the nurses Elisa and the other aides who helped at a moment’s notice; and the advice and guidance VNA Hospice provided whenever needed.

Please pass on our appreciation to everyone at the VNA. Thank you also for your bereavement program. We will certainly keep in touch, if needed. We are doing fine, thanks in no small part to the VNA hospice staff during my husband’s care.

Thank you,
Maria and Family

Falmouth Hospital staff provided a supportive presence

Dear Faith, Paul and Susan,

Please accept my most sincere gratitude for the fine and compassionate care you gave me during my recent cardiac stress test. Coming so soon after shoulder surgery and in discomfort, I was quite anxious. Each of you provided such a supportive presence that it really touched my heart.

As an old retired hospital chaplain, I was very aware of your kindness and the ways in which you interacted with all of the patients who came and went during my time with you.

Special thanks to Susan for the gentleness and for the ways in which she was so attentive to my needs as a post-op shoulder patient.

Falmouth Hospital is so very blessed to have each of you – your generous hearts are in the right place.

Gratefully,
Nan Bouche

Patient visit: Polite, prompt, professional and perfect!

I saw Dr. Rancourt in Cardiology yesterday and I wanted to say a few words about my visit.
P. P. P. P.
Polite: Receptionist was polite and signed me in immediately.
Prompt: After a two-minute wait, Nurse Amanda took my vitals and did an EKG with kindness.
Professional: Dr. Rancourt was clear and helpful with a gracious professional manner.
Perfect: The visit was absolutely perfect.  And I might even decrease my caffeine and alcohol intake and drink more water as the good doctor recommended.

I thank you all.
Paul R.

VNA staff “touched our hearts and lives”

Our entire family would like to thank VNA Hospice and all your wonderful people for taking such good care of my husband and ourselves. Everyone touched our hearts and lives and we thank you. .

Thanks to VNA staff, patient feels like herself again

To Whom it May Concern,

When I returned home from an 11-day hospitalization for Covid pneumonia, the most mundane tasks were a challenge. It took nurses, a physical therapist and an occupational therapist to support me as I learned the most basic of tasks.

Shannon taught me how to shower safely, how to get dressed and how to put on my shoes; Amad helped me to develop the strength, balance and confidence to move from the use of a walker to the use of a cane and being able to move around the house unassisted. Now, I can walk outside to have coffee in the garden or walk to the ocean using just a cane. Karen and the other nurses monitored my blood pressure and my lungs, putting my mind at ease as I weaned off oxygen and had to manage my asthma.

With the help of the VNA staff, I have become stronger, more confident and more independent. I am becoming the person I was before. Thank you!

Sincerely,
Jill Lester

JML staff goes the extra mile for patient care

Dear JML Care Center,

I cannot say enough about the JML staff: kind, helpful and willing to go the extra mile to be helpful. My praise applies to the RNs, the LPN and the physical and occupational therapists (Heather, Dave, Jess and others), and the cheerful cleaning staff.

Bravo!

JML: A wonderful place for healing

I was very happy to go to JML to recover from my knee replacement operation at NEBH. The wonderful care really helped me go home and continue healing. JML is a wonderful place for our healing!
