October Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Urgent Care Campaigns Win Top Industry Awards
Cape Cod Healthcare was among the 2022 Lamplighter Award winners at the New England Society for Healthcare Communications (NESHCo) annual conference June 1-3 in Portland, ME. NESHCO’s annual Lamplighter Awards recognizes outstanding achievements and campaigns produced in healthcare marketing and public relations. The winning campaigns, publications and media entries were selected from hundreds of entries submitted by healthcare systems across New England.
Gold awards were presented for CCHC’s October Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the Health Promotion Campaign division and for our Urgent Care Patient Acquisition campaign in the Service Line Campaign division. Additionally, an Award of Excellence was also received for Women’s Health Campaign television spots.
On the heels of the Lamplighter Awards, Cape Cod Health News was awarded a gold winner for Outstanding Work in the category of E-Publication from Healthcare Ad Awards.

Dr. Ted Calianos Named New President of Massachusetts Medical Society
Dr. Ted Calianos, medical director of Cape Cod Healthcare’s Medical Affiliates of Cape Cod, started his one-year term in May as president of The Massachusetts Medical Society. The organization represents more than 25,000 physicians and medical students.
Back in January, Calianos told The Pulse he was honored and excited to be elected president. “As the public face of the Mass Medical Society, I will be dealing with membership, advocacy issues, legislators, politicians and regulators,” says Calianos, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon in Mashpee affiliated with Falmouth Hospital.

Dr. Brooks and Dr. Munsey receive clinical educator awards from UMass Chan Medical School
Dr. Stephen W. Brooks, MD, and Dr. Douglas Munsey, MD, both affiliated with Cape Cod Hospital, were among several doctors in the state who received the Outstanding Faculty and House Officers Awards from UMass Chan Medical School. The graduating class of 2022 nominated the pair for the annual faculty and resident awards. Anne Garrison, MD, Associate Dean for Student Affairs at UMass Chan Medical School, wrote in a recent email to the doctors: “It is particularly impressive to be nominated for this award at an affiliate site. I am thankful for all of your efforts to educate our students.”
Dr. Brooks, MD, FACS, RPVI, has been affiliated with Cape Cod Hospital since 1990. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. Dr. Munsey, MD, has been affiliated with Cape Cod Hospital since 2015. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
