Employees at Work — and Play — on Cape Cod

This month, we launched a new recruitment campaign which features different CCHC team members representing what is so unique and special about Cape Cod Healthcare: the ability to work – and play – on Cape Cod. We invite you to meet some of our team and learn how they enjoy that place where career meets lifestyle.

In this edition, meet Dana Medeiros, an Emergency Room nurse; Dr. Jeff Spillane, a General & Thoracic Surgeon; and Melessa Fox, Cardiac Rehab Nurse.

Dana Medeiros, an Emergency Room Nurse and a regular on Nauset Outer Beach.

Dana was a firefighter and paramedic for 23 years before going back to school to become a full-time nurse. “The best part of working here is the people that I work alongside of… having people that are constantly checking on you to make sure that you’re able to do the job, answer questions for you, help you out throughout your entire shift. It has really been a fantastic thing to be a part of,” he said.

Dr. Jeff Spillane, a General and Thoracic Surgeon who has been with Cape Cod Healthcare for over 18 years – and is an avid waterman, from paddle boarding off Sandy Neck to surfing on the Outer Cape.

Dr. Spillane knew from an early age that he wanted to become a physician. “Healthcare is a calling. I like helping people. I like fixing problems,” he says.

Melessa Fox, a long-standing RN and big fan of the Shining Sea Bikeway in Falmouth.

At just 5 years old, Melessa knew she wanted to become a nurse. Today, she oversees the Cardiac Rehabilitation program as a nurse at Falmouth Hospital. After almost 25 years at the hospital, she says, “I just never thought I’d be [at] an institution that long. I went from being part-time here to full-time, running the [Cardiac Rehab] program.”
