CCH Nurses Receive Barton Excellence AwardCCH Nurses Receive Barton Excellence Award

Ten recipients of the annual award were nominated by colleagues for their commitment to the mission, vision and values of Cape Cod Hospital.

On Friday, May 12, in the Lorusso Board Room, 10 Cape Cod Hospital nurses were presented with the Barton Excellence in Nursing Practice and Scholarship Awards during the 25th annual ceremony. Mary Johnson, Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Patient Care at Cape Cod Hospital, kicked off the event with opening remarks, with additional words provided by Mike Lauf, President and CEO of Cape Cod Healthcare, Rachel Souza, RN, a 2019 Barton award honoree and Jen Lacasse, NP, Service Line Director for Women’s Health. Award presentations followed to complete this special celebration.

For the past 25 years, Cape Cod Hospital has received a generous contribution to fund the annual awards program that recognizes and rewards outstanding clinical and professional care provided by nurses. Joseph Laraja, through The Laraja Foundation, has donated funds for Cape Cod Hospital nurses to receive the Barton Excellence in Nursing Practice Awards for 2023. The program is named in honor of Miss Ethel Barton, RN, a former Director of Nursing and Assistant Administrator of Cape Cod Hospital. Ms. Barton, through her significant leadership and contribution to the growth and development of Cape Cod Hospital, epitomized all the qualities of superior nursing practice.
