Barton Awards: Nursing Excellence Takes Center Stage
Eight recipients of the Barton Excellence in Nursing Practice Award were nominated by their colleagues for their commitment to the mission, vision and values of Cape Cod Hospital.
Congratulations to the recipients of this year’s Barton Excellence in Nursing Practice Award!
Cape Cod Hospital honored eight exceptional nurses and two future nurses during the annual Barton Excellence in Nursing Practice Award and Scholarship Awards ceremony, held on May 6 in the Lorusso Board Room.
This meaningful event—attended by award winners, coworkers, family and friends—recognizes those who embody the highest standards of patient care and personify the mission, vision and values of Cape Cod Hospital. The ceremony began with opening remarks from William Agel, MD, chief medical officer for Cape Cod Hospital and Cape Cod Healthcare, followed by inspiring comments and awards presentation from Mary Johnson, vice president of patient care and chief nursing officer at Cape Cod Hospital.
“Nursing is not just a profession. It is an art shaped by human connection,” said Mary Johnson, Vice President of Patient Care & Chief Nursing Officer for Cape Cod Hospital and Cape Cod Healthcare. “Never underestimate the impact we have—not just in what we do, but in how we make people feel.”
This year’s recipients are:
- Richard Abraham, Jr. RN, Emergency Department
- Ashley Bilbo, RN, Mugar 4
- Megan Brady, RN, IV Therapy
- Pamela Miles, BSN, RN, CAPA, PACU/SDC
- Pamela Morrison, RN, Mugar 5
- Jennifer O’Keefe, RN, CIVCU/ICU
- Erin Potter, RN, Barbey 4
- Linda Storie, RN, Barbey 4
In addition, Cape Cod Healthcare also awarded two Registered Nurse Program Scholarships to Barnstable County high school seniors pursuing nursing degrees. Congratulations to this year’s recipients: Victoria Dinn, a graduating senior at Barnstable High School who has been accepted to the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and Kendra Nguyen, a graduating senior at Falmouth High School, who will be attending the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
