Grateful Patient: ‘The Finest, Most Professionally Run Hospital’
A retired doctor from Savannah, Georgia, who traveled hundreds of miles for a neurosurgery procedure, praises Dr. Paul Houle and Cape Cod Hospital staff.
Dear Ms. Souza,
My name is David Thomas, and I am a retired OB-GYN from Savannah, Georgia. I traveled to Cape Cod Hospital to undergo surgery performed by Dr. Paul Houle, having been referred by my neurosurgeon. I practiced for 30 years and have been a surgeon and a patient in many facilities. However, I now believe I have been in the finest, most professionally run hospital that I have seen in my career. Whether it was the greeter at the front desk on Sunday or John with security, the staff and employees are second to none.
Two people I particularly want to bring attention to are my pre-op nurse, Claire, and my post-op nurse, Diana. Each of these nurses is confident, kind and highly skilled. It is difficult to travel to a hospital you are not familiar with, but their professional, compassionate care put me at ease and quickly reassured me I could not be in better hands. I felt you needed to hear some positives in our negative world.
You are doing a marvelous job at hiring and maintaining a solid skilled staff. They are literally the best I have ever seen, including my own nurses. My wife is a pre-op nurse and I only wish we lived close by so that she could experience the hospital work environment I witnessed.
Savannah is a long way to travel for surgery, but I could not have had a better experience with your entire hospital and OR staff. Thank you for caring about providing patients the best and highest-quality care available.
Sincerely,
David M. Thomas, MD
(Editor’s note: Rachel Souza is Nurse Manager for Surgical Day Care at Cape Cod Hospital; David also shared in an email that Peggy and Erica in the operating room were fantastic).
