Riverview School interns offer greetings, gratitude

Riverview School Interns

The students we support offer support for our staff

Cape Cod Hospital and Falmouth Hospital are fortunate to have interns from the Riverview School in Sandwich working alongside our staff in several departments. While COVID-19 has prevented our interns from performing their regular roles, they sent a personal greeting to the hospital staff who encourage their professional growth through Project SEARCH.

This national internship program is a vocational option for students who are in their last year at GROW (Getting Ready for the Outside World) at Riverview. Founded in 1996 and currently replicated at 300 locations throughout the world, Project SEARCH first came to Massachusetts through the Riverview School GROW program.

Through Riverview’s partnerships with Cape Cod Hospital and Falmouth Hospital, students receive extensive on-the-job training and career exploration opportunities to prepare them for competitive employment. During their Project SEARCH internships, students rotate through 3 different departments at the hospitals such as Pharmacy, Emergency Center, Human Resources, Sterile Processing, Materials Management and the Medical Records Department.

The program benefits the students by offering practical experience and professional, social interaction and enhances CCHC by offering a unique experience, helping community members gain experience for employment.
