What’s Happening Cape Cod
September is packed with ways to get outside, celebrate the Cape and support the community. From the high-speed excitement of Seaside Le Mans and scenic rides with Second Summer Cycle and the Autumn Escape Bike Trek to longtime favorites like the Harwich Cranberry Arts & Music Festival, there’s plenty happening across the region this month.
Seaside Le Mans

Mashpee Commons
Drivers, start your engines! Seaside Le Mans marks its 25th year as teams of drivers hop into Formula One European-style racing karts. From the drop of the green flag to pit stops and the much-anticipated final lap, the four-hour race on a 1/4-mile track offers non-stop excitement for participants and spectators alike! Since its inception in 2001, Seaside LeMans has raised nearly $10 million for Cape Cod nonprofits. This year’s beneficiaries include Cape Cod Healthcare, Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, Behavioral Health Innovators, Family Table Collaborative and Homeless Not Hopeless.
How to watch the race: The Seaside Le Mans race takes place on a quarter-mile route through the parking lot near the cinema at Mashpee Commons. Spectators can walk around the perimeter of the course to catch the action from different vantage points.
Second Summer Cycle
Sunday, Sept. 13

Smugglers Beach, South Yarmouth
Perfect for riders of all levels, Second Summer Cycle offers a beautiful journey through eight Cape Cod towns and benefits 19 nonprofit organizations on Cape Cod. There are four distances—15, 34, 60 and 100 miles—all of which start and end at Smugglers Beach in South Yarmouth with a finish line celebration featuring food trucks and live music. Riders also receive $30 in vouchers as part of their registration to use at food and beverage trucks.
Truro Treasures
Friday through Sunday, Sept. 18-20

Truro turns lively for this three-day, town-wide celebration! Now in its fourth decade—Truro Treasures got its start in 1992 as a fundraiser to help save the Highland Lighthouse—the weekend kicks off with an opening night presentation at the Highland House Museum, featuring a talk by a local historian, along with face painting, henna artists, a chalk mural, cookie decorating and games for the whole family. Saturday brings the Pamet 5K Fun Run, a scenic route from Pamet Harbor to Ballston Beach through salt marshes and forest before emerging on the Cape Cod National Seashore (registration opens at 8 a.m. at Pamet Harbor), plus a grape stomp, treasure hunt and Rock the Block community celebration. The weekend wraps up Sunday with an antique and classic car show at the Truro Community Center.
Harwich Cranberry Arts & Music Festival
Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 19 & 20

The Harwich Cranberry Arts & Music Festival celebrates 50 years in 2026. This two-day event, centered around the local cranberry harvest, features food trucks, plenty of family fun and at least 150 juried artists and crafters displaying their wares for sale. When you hear the music, it’s time for some toe-tapping live entertainment at CranJam Music Festival! Ample free parking.
Cape Cod Canal Day
Saturday, Sept. 19

The community-wide, family-friendly event takes place in Buzzards Bay Park on the banks of the Cape Cod Canal. The day features arts and crafts vendors, live entertainment, a craft beer and wine garden, kids’ activities, a dog costume parade, a 5K road race (registration required), food vendors and a cornhole tournament. Cape Cod Canal Day is a fun-for-all event for visitors and locals alike! Free admission.
Autumn Escape Bike Trek
Friday-Sunday, Sept. 25-27
Weekend based at Camp Burgess in Sandwich
Grab your bike and join hundreds of riders and volunteers as the American Lung Association’s 42nd annual Autumn Escape Bike Trek rolls across Cape Cod. Riders of all skill levels can choose to tackle one, two or all three days, covering up to 155 miles along fully supported routes across the Cape. With Camp Burgess in Sandwich serving as home base, riders will enjoy hosted rest stops, with more than 100 volunteers cheering them on along the way. Beyond the miles, the weekend brings a festival-style Pedal Palooza, finish-line festivities and a lobster dinner. Meals are included in the fundraising minimum, along with accommodations for two- and three-day riders. Every mile supports the Lung Association’s mission to save lives through lung health research, education and advocacy. Register by Sept. 21. Love Local Fest

Love Local Fest rolls back into Aselton Park with Hyannis Harbor as the backdrop, bringing together 75 to 120 local artists, brands and makers for a day of shopping small. Grab a bite from the food trucks, sip something from the craft beverage garden, let the kids explore the activity zone and soak up live music from Cape Cod performers, all while supporting the small businesses that keep this place feeling like home.
