Summer Highlights: Making the Most of the Season

From Cape Cod beaches to bucket-list adventures around the world, Cape Cod Healthcare team members made the most of summer 2026 — and shared some of their favorite moments.

For some, summer meant staying close to home. The Cape Cod Hospital Retail Pharmacy team marked the end of the season with a cookout on Sandy Neck’s off-road beach in Sandwich.

“We had great food, s’mores and a gorgeous sunset!” said Laurie Hahesy, supervisor of pharmacy support staff.

Ricardo Novoa, engagement specialist case manager with Cape Cod Human Services, explored the Yarmouth Sand Sculpture Trail, while Bob Mailloux, facilities coordinator with the Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod, spent time on Cape Cod Bay checking his lobster pots.

Others ventured much farther. Patient access representative Tara Mitchell-Kilduff headed to Alaska, while wellness program manager Darijan Suton went parasailing with his daughter, Addie, during a trip to Croatia, and the director of language access and health equity Ceci Phelan-Stiles and her daughter, Stephanie, walked roughly 70 miles of the Camino de Santiago in Spain over seven days.

There were plenty of adventures on the water, too. Anne Burke, RN, nurse manager on Mugar 6, reeled in some impressive bluefin tuna.

“I made the most of summer by spending as much time as possible on the water,” said Burke. “Nothing beats sunshine, salt air and tight lines!”

One of the summer’s sweetest highlights came from Laura Lacina, receptionist at CCH OB/GYN, who welcomed twin granddaughters Harper and Brooke on July 28 in Greenville, N.C. The twins join big brother Oliver, age 7.

From new arrivals and family time to travel, fishing and outdoor adventures, thank you to everyone who shared a glimpse of their summer well spent!
