What’s Happening Cape Cod
We’ve rounded up a variety of local events and activities that promise to bring joy, connection and memorable moments. For the month of May, we highlight Brewster in Bloom, two meaningful walks, and opening weekend for the artist shanties!
May 3-5 - Brewster in Bloom
Brewster’s signature 38th annual event features music, arts and crafts and an amazing parade. On Friday, the Brewster Band will hold its 30th annual Brewster in Bloom concert at the Brewster Baptist Church at 7 p.m. Expect everything from Broadway show tunes and American Songbook standards to classical pieces. On Saturday, lace up for the annual Bloom Run, a 5K, 3.1 mile-run/walk. (There is a $40 entry fee, or $25 for kids 12 and under.) The annual Juried Fine Arts and Crafts Show is one of the most popular events, held at the old Cape Cod Sea Camps property this year. Lastly, the annual parade steps off Sunday at 1 p.m. from Eddy Elementary School. Floats, bands and firetrucks will make their way west along Main Street to Swamp Road.

Clay Hansinger, Clinical Service Manager for Cape Cod Human Services at Cape Cod Healthcare, provided an array of resources at last year’s Sharing Kindness walk.
Saturday, May 18 - Sharing Kindness Suicide Awareness Walk
The signature fundraiser for Sharing Kindness, the Suicide Awareness Walk is a three-mile (5k) loop walk that brings together community members to remember those who have died by suicide, support survivors of suicide loss, and raise awareness of the stigmatized issues of brain health and suicide. It is an annual day of healing, telling our stories and forming connections with others through shared experiences. 8:30 a.m.: Registration + pre-walk activities | 10 a.m.: Opening ceremony + walk begins.
Veterans Park Beach, Hyannis. For more information, visit Sharing Kindness
Sunday, May 19 — Walk for Hope
For 50 years, the Housing Assistance Corp. has provided critical services to those experiencing housing instability and homelessness on Cape Cod and the Islands. In 2023, Housing Assistance served 6,500 clients through education, stabilization, prevention, and services for the homeless. Every dollar raised through the Walk for Hope will stay local and connect people to safe, stable housing that serves as a bridge to healthy families and thriving communities across the Cape and Islands.
Walk at one of three locations: Falmouth, Hyannis, or Orleans. All walks will occur at 1 p.m. For more information, visit Walk for Hope.
