Trachsel Institute Ribbon-Cutting CeremonySlideshow: Trachsel Institute Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

Newly remodeled facility in Hyannis brings together neurology services, and dementia and Alzheimer’s caregiver support program under one roof.

Cape Cod Healthcare proudly commemorated the Trachsel Neuroscience Institute at 1019 Iyannough Road in Hyannis with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in mid-August.

The newly remodeled facility, which opened in July, was funded with support from a generous gift provided by Nancy and Bill Trachsel. The center features neurology services as well as our dementia and Alzheimer’s caregiver support program together in one space to meet the growing neurological care needs in our community.

The space was architecturally designed specifically with patients undergoing neurological care in mind—from sensory, mobility and optical issues to Alzheimer’s and dementia. The accessibility to entrances, patient care areas and restrooms were all carefully planned.

Sean Horrigan, a neurologist and medical director of the institute, said the building was created to meet Cape Cod Healthcare's challenges and the growing responsibility to care for our patients and families living with dementia. “Every family has a story to tell,” says Horrigan. “We all have a stake in this story. These days, almost everyone knows a family member or friend living with some form of cognitive impairment. Our community is depending on us for the best medical care, caregiver support and guidance to help live well with dementia. My colleagues and I are eager to make a meaningful difference here on Cape Cod.”
