High-Tech Cancer Care in Falmouth
The Clark Cancer Center, which recently completed a major equipment and technology upgrade, is back in action after a two-month down period. The center now offers local cancer patients advanced, state-of-the art radiation oncology treatment close to home.
With the installation of a new linear accelerator, patients will be able to receive treatment in a much shorter time. The new equipment provides two to four times faster speed of delivery, and with enhanced accuracy, it helps to minimize risk of a patient's radiation dose to normal tissue.
“It’s exciting to be able to upgrade into this new generation linear accelerator and BrainLAB technology offering high dose and high-precision treatment capabilities. We learned a lot during this upgrade that will help us as we prepare to move into the new Barbey Patient Care Tower in Hyannis,” said Gabor Menyhart, MS, DABR, Chief Physicist. “The re-opening at Clark will be great for patients, and having all the bells and whistles for technology will allow us to be able to do everything we need to as a comprehensive cancer center,” added M. Giulia Chicchetti, MD, Radiation Oncologist.
