Hike Barnstable Challenge: Get Outside This Summer
Go take a hike!
The Hike Barnstable Challenge, part of Barnstable Land Trust’s 40th Anniversary celebration, is a three-month activity challenge that kicks off on Saturday, June 3 (National Trails Day), and runs through Monday, September 4. This fun, self-paced challenge is free to participate in and encourages hikers of all ages and abilities to explore at least 40 miles on Town of Barnstable trails during June, July and August using Barnstable Land Trust’s new trail guides.
Whether you’re going for a hike on Barnstable Land Trust trails or exploring the town’s protected lands in one of its seven villages, the Hike Barnstable Challenge will help you enjoy nature and work toward meeting your fitness goals. Spending time in nature is beneficial for our physical and mental health, especially if it’s combined with exercise. It provides many health benefits, including lower rates of heart disease, stroke, obesity, stress and depression.
