The 32nd Annual Golf Tournament at Eastward Ho! this fall raised $156,000 for Cape Cod Hospital. On November 16, 2021, Eastward Ho! golf committee members and event chairs presented a check to Michael Lauf, President and CEO of Cape Cod Healthcare.
“Since I have been involved with this tournament for the past 10 years, I always give a kick-off talk before I send everyone out to their various holes,” says Golf Tournament Event Chair Hank Holden. “I say, ‘you may want to go to Brigham, but when you call 911, you’re going to Cape Cod Hospital.’ It gives you a great feeling. It’s a wonderful opportunity to pay back and to provide some support for the Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation, which is part of the fabric of Cape Cod Healthcare.”
The two-day fundraiser, normally held in June, was pushed to the fall because of COVID. On October 17 and 18, nearly 200 Eastward Ho! members, individual sponsors and local golfers hit the links on picture-perfect days for the annual event organized by Eastward Ho! and Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation.
Since 2005, Eastward Ho! members have helped raise $2.3 million for Cape Cod Hospital. The money raised over the years has allowed Eastward Ho! to name a conference room in Cape Cod Hospital’s Davenport-Mugar Cancer Center as well as an Acute Care Clinical Station in the Cape Cod Hospital Emergency Center.
The 2022 golf tournament will be held June 9 and 10 at Eastward Ho! The hospital benefit also includes a fundraising gala in August and a bridge tournament in September, but those events were put on hold because of the pandemic. The golf club plans to resume these events in 2022.
