New Coffeehouse Brews Up Excitement

The addition of Old King’s Coffeehouse, which opened April 15, is creating buzz throughout Cape Cod Hospital.

On a recent early afternoon at Old King’s Coffeehouse inside Cape Cod Hospital, the flow of customers is steady—and so is the enthusiasm.

Before starting their shift, maternity nurses Alex Curtiss and Tasha Green ordered their beverages online. Their iced matcha and hazelnut sweet cream cold brew were placed in cubbies at the front for easy pickup.

“I love Old King’s Coffeehouse,” says Curtiss. “I frequent their Yarmouth location, so I am very excited they opened a second location inside the hospital. It’s a little bit dangerous because I will want it all the time now.”

Diagnostic techs Julianna Pallagi and Jackie McEvoy start their shift in the phlebotomy lab at 1 p.m. and enjoy the convenience of the coffeehouse. “Their apple croissants are amazing!” says Pallagi.

Jackie chimes in: “I love their banana smoothies and muffins. Their handmade sandwiches are fresh and delicious.”

Located in a newly renovated space at the main entrance of Cape Cod Hospital, Old King’s Coffeehouse is open 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., seven days a week. Breakfast is served all day, and lunch starts at 10:30 a.m. every day.

General Manager Tara Sanders says the most popular food items include breakfast burritos; turkey BLTs and chicken caprese sandwiches on sourdough; and protein power and super green smoothies. For coffee, mocha and maple brown sugar lattes are among the favorites.

“Oh, and the chocolate chip cookies,” says Sanders. “People can’t seem to get enough of them!”

Old King’s Coffeehouse was established in 2019 by Mark and Kate Corliss. After seeing a need for a locally owned coffeehouse in West Yarmouth, the Corlisses went to work to bring premium coffee and handcrafted food to their local community.

“Being kind to people and treating others right is what we do,” says Kate. “We can do this with great coffee and amazing food. We thank Cape Cod Hospital for giving us the opportunity to serve amazing coffee and food with a smile. We look forward to meeting everyone who comes through our doors!”
