Cape Cod Hosptial and the Bayview BogBayview Bogs Project

Cape Cod Healthcare has partnered with the Cape Cod Conservation District (CCCD) and the state Division of Ecological Restoration (DER) to begin a five-year project that will restore Bayview Cranberry Bogs in West Yarmouth to its natural state. Cape Cod Hospital, which owns the 89-acre bog area, announced recently that DER has designated a restoration plan for what is known as the “Bayview Bogs,” as a “priority project.”

The overall vision of CCHC, CCCD and DER is to bring the bog back to a healthier ecosystem that will offer hospital patients and family members a tranquil place for contemplation and healing, a space for passive recreation for neighbors and the local community, and possible climate change mitigation benefits by restoring the ebb and flow of water into nearby Lewis Bay.
